Beautiful You One Layer Card with Prismacolors

I have a friend who is a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and occasionally I'll go join in on her monthly card making class.  This just allows me to be with friends and like minded people.  I saw the Beautiful You stamp set in the Occasions Catalog and immediately knew I had to have it.

I used some bristol paper to create a standard A2 card.  Stamped the image and sentiment on the front using my Mini Misti, then simple colored the image with Prismacolors.  I used only 4 pencils along with the blender pencil.

I duplicated the image and used different colors for the dress and hat.

Here a short video.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wondrous Whale Digital Stamp from Jess Crafts Digitals

Hi everyone, thought I would share the newest release from Jess Crafts Digitals.  She has created this cute set called Wondrous Whale, along with some a few sentiments to go with.  And remember, on release day, they are always just $1.

I sponged on some distress ink to create my background, cut some waves from a few pieces of leftover parchment paper/vellum from a SSS kit, colored my sweet little whale with copics and placed part of him behind one of the waves.

I also stamped a few little fish behind the waves, but in the end, they really couldn't be seen.

Video of the process can be seen here in HD, or down below.

Flashback 2011 Watercolor, Mixed Media, and Acrylic

Today I was cleaning out a couple of areas in my office and ran across these watercolor pieces that I created back in 2011.  First thought that came to mind was, I could use these same techniques to make some really unique cards.

Then I ran across this piece, which was one of my favorites.  This is a mixed media piece that I used to keep hanging in my office.  I had moved it to hang up another piece that was given to me by my best friend.  Not sure why I never found a new home for it.  I will definitely find it a new home now.
And then there is this one that hangs in my hallway.  This is a rather large piece done in acrylics.  The lighting is a little dark in the hallway so this picture doesn't really depict the true color.  None-the-less, I really enjoyed revisiting times gone by and remembering what I used to do.

Fish Friends from Jess Crafts Digitals

I've been toying with a couple of ideas using the Fish Friends Digital Stamps from Jess Crafts Digitals.

My first idea was to print the Seahorses out on Neenah, color with copics and cut them out.  For the background, I used Distress Watercolor Paper and did a little ink smooshing with a couple of blue distress inks.  I cut the sentiment into a banner and added color with copics as well.

This one was okay, though I really wasn't pleased with the coloring, especially on the banner, but hey, we learn from our mistakes.

For the second card, I simply used a very old stencil and added ink to my background.  Colored the Seahorses in shades of purple and yellow.  Used some blue to create like sound waves or nation waves around them, then used the colorless blender to lift out little circles.  I cut out the melon card stock with the fancy edges and then it hit me....everything I was doing seemed to play off the "O" in the sentiment (O-Fish-Ally).  So I had to do it and add the google eyes; after all, they are also round and have little round pupils inside.
